Last week Shaw Vineyard Estate together with HMAS Canberra officially launched the 2015 Shaw Vineyard Estate Flagship Shiraz on-board the HMAS Canberra, the largest ship ever constructed for the Royal Australian Navy.  The event was held amongst the ship’s company and guests with Sydney Harbour providing a brilliant backdrop.

The wine was blended by Graeme Shaw, Captain Chris Smith and Commander Ben Macdonald at Shaw Vineyard Estate’s Cellar Door.  Graeme states “We’re very proud to be doing this.  It was an honour to be able to produce this wine exclusively for the ship’s company and their distinguished guests and is a great opportunity for us to promote our region’s wines to the world.”

This partnership was formed as part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the city of Canberra and HMAS Canberra, facilitated by the Canberra Business Chamber to showcase the business and tourism capabilities the Canberra Region has to offer to the world.

On the day of the launch Graeme Shaw organised for 30 students from Yass High School to come along to explore the ship and learn more about Navy life.  The day’s activities included a tour of the ship, lunch in the galley and a spin around the harbour in a landing craft.
