Updates from Contentious Character

The four Contentious Characters have brought on board Tom Stoneham, as Head Chef for the kitchen. Back in 2012 when the restaurant closed, it was a fine dining establishment frequented by the locals on personal special occasions, for rugby nights and weddings.
Forward to 2017 and shared plates matched to the museum collection of aged wines, with an Italian and rustic twist, in a casual friendly space, is the go. A place where locals and their Canberran mates can frequent at affordable prices. It is the best-kept secret north-east of Canberra’s airport!
Jeremy Wilson, Chief Winemaker at Contentious Character has brought on Ash Horner to assist him with the 2015 and 2016 vintages. Contentious Character is the newest and in many ways the oldest, addition to the Canberra district wine and food scene.
Jeremy and his partners Ben Jarrett, Tony Mansfield and Ross Appleton have taken over the Lambert’s vineyard, winery, cellar-door and kitchen just six months ago and undertaken a major overhaul and rebrand of the well respected and locally loved vineyard. Ash Horner will assist Wilson in bringing a ‘new world twist’ to the Lambert’s ‘old world style’ wines, many of which are still highly sought after by locals returning to the cellar-door since it’s reopening in late 2016.
